“When we use these scribes, we often trade long-term data sovereignty for short-term administrative relief.”

Recurring concern, r/medicine

Clinical documentation accounts for more of a physician's day than direct patient care. AI scribes promised to help, but most send patient conversations to cloud servers where your patients' most sensitive disclosures become someone else's training data.

Typeahead is different by design. The model runs on your Mac. Your writing never touches a server. Nothing can be intercepted because nothing is transmitted.

Built for how clinicians actually work.

Runs Locally

Your data never leaves your Mac

Everything processes on-device. No cloud servers, no API calls, no third-party access to your patient data.

Inline Suggestions

GPU-accelerated. Suggestions in under 100ms. Zero lag while you type.

Every App on Your Mac

One-Time Purchase

$79 once. No subscription, no renewal, no per-seat fees.

What clinicians use Typeahead for.

SOAP notes and clinical documentation

Review of systems, assessment language, plan boilerplate. Typeahead completes common clinical phrases inline, cutting the time on every note.

Referral letters

High-volume, semi-structured writing. Typeahead handles the predictable sentence structures while you supply the clinical specifics.

Patient communication

Explaining procedures, post-visit follow-up, lab result summaries. Typeahead completes the standard language so you can focus on the personalized content.

Prior authorization

Repetitive, formulaic, frustrating. Typeahead reduces the keystrokes on the formulaic sections without sending any clinical data off-device.

Works inside your EHR, your email, and everything else.

Any app

Typeahead uses the macOS Accessibility API. It works in any app with a text field, including web-based EHRs like Epic, Cerner, and Athena.

Not “HIPAA compliant.” Not “BAA covered.”
It never leaves your Mac.

“HIPAA compliant” is a policy claim. It means an organization has procedures and controls. It doesn't mean data stays on your device.

Why one-time?

Subscriptions incentivize retention tricks. One-time purchases incentivize building something so good you tell people about it. We chose the second one.

Your questions, answered honestly.

Typeahead doesn't transmit, store, or process data outside your device, so it doesn't function as a business associate under HIPAA. There's no PHI in transit because there's no transmission. That said, your institution may have its own AI use policies. Check with your compliance team.

No. Typeahead is a text completion tool. It only processes what you actively type. It doesn't listen, record, or transcribe.

Typeahead works in most web-based EHR text fields, including Epic, Cerner, and Athena. Native desktop EHR apps also work. Some highly customized fields in browser-based systems may behave differently.

Typeahead and Dragon Medical can coexist. They operate at different levels. Dragon handles speech-to-text. Typeahead handles text completion after the words are on screen.

Typeahead suggests sentence completions based on what you're typing. It's not a clinical decision support tool and it doesn't suggest diagnoses or treatments. It suggests how to finish a sentence you've already started. You review and accept or ignore.

Documentation shouldn't cost you patient trust. Typeahead helps you write faster, entirely on your Mac. Nothing leaves. Nothing is at risk.
